In celebration of Spooktober, I’m giving away one copy of the Criterion Blu-ray of Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious (1946). What’s included.

Notorious is an underrated title in Hitchcock’s library. Starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains, it is a masterwork in quiet tension. Motives, identities, and secrets twist and meander. It’s the perfect film for a creepy, chilly night.

Set just after World War II, Bergman becomes an embedded spy in the home of a escaped Nazi. Grant is her handler and the two simply sizzle on screen. And thought he is the villain, Rains manges to gain the sympathy of the audience.

  1. My favorite part of Halloween is that I can finally put out all my severed limbs and heads! They just take up so much of my freezer the rest of the year.

  2. That shift in the weather is my favorite. I know it’s such a basic thing to be excited about, but when the mercury starts dropping I come positively alive.

  3. Fave Halloween thing: staying in an “old dark house” & seeing no greedy children.
(……does a regular dvd player “play” blueray?)
