Leslie Caron ReadingI have nearly finished Patient H.M. and it has been a fascinating read. I find Dittrich has found the right balance between technical information and human emotion.

I had the good fortune to attend part of SIBA in Savannah this weekend as a proxy for The Book Lady, a local store I blog for and generally trade bookish ideas with. I met some great people and grabbed a few ARCs as well.

Looking forward to The Disappearance at Devil’s Rock, The Hidden People, and News of the World

And since Halloween is my favorite holiday, I start getting excited about now. And I am beyond thrilled that someone at Penguin Classics sent me two new collections to celebrate with. The Penguin Book of the Undead collects more than 1500 years worth of supernatural encounters, and it’s edited by a guy who used to be a gravedigger (!). Haunted Castles is a collection of Ray Russell stories, all Gothic and creepy. Can’t wait.

How was your weekend reading? What are you starting on now?

  1. Excellent to hear that the Patient HM book is good! I read the big feature on it in the New York Times recently and thought it sounded great, but it’s always tricky with nonfiction! There’s so many different ways it can go wrong!

  2. I’m glad you enjoyed Patient HM…I DNF’d at 30%, but wonder if I should’ve pushed further. I was frustrated with the lack of focus on HM for the first 30%.
