from the publisher: In THE LAKE, the remains of a young Nigerian woman are found by a hunting dog, near a lake in Nordsjælland that the locals have nicknamed “Satan’s Bog.” No one knows who this woman is and no one has reported her missing. After the local police fumble the investigation and the dead-end case catches the attention of the public, Konrad Simonsen, the intrepid head of the Copenhagen homicide team, is called in. Konrad and his team follow the slim leads they have to a nearby estate, where a shady employee appears to be harboring a past of violent crime. Soon enough, they realize that this mysterious woman is leading them into a world of human trafficking, prostitution, and violence.
