It takes a great deal for me to be impressed when it has to do with Sherlock Holmes. I’m very protective of the detective’s legacy, as are most fans, I think. Rather than try to recreate a set of stories ‘inspired’ by Sherlock or inserting him into a new setting, this book compiles all the bits of things we love about Holmes.

With brief intros, it looks at the canon in unusual ways. There is a section about the dogs in Sherlock stories, his disguises and how Watson reacts to them, and the ones he lets go. It also chronicles the many adaptations, the actors who played him, and more.

Seeing all these tidbits re-sorted in various ways lets even the most familiar reader see their hero in a new way. It is true to the original and a must-read for any Sherlock fan.
